This evening I made an intriguing discovery.
A post I had made — on my favorite short story, “Lean Times in Lankhmar” — has been “scraped.”
What that means is this. Someone else has taken that post, and published it on a blog. Specifically, a blog about making money. Sometimes called a “splog,” short for “spam-blog.”
I have the URL. No, I’m not going to share it. Why draw attention to it?
Thanks to a Whois search, I have the owner of said website.
I’m going to send him an invoice. He’s in the UK. I think £100 is fair.
He’s taken my words. He’s republished them under the name of “JD.” I may be many things, but I have never been a “JD.”
If he wants to claim my words, on my favorite short story no less, for his own, fine. But he’s going to have to pay me for them.
