On a Biblical Bonfire

On Halloween, in the western North Carolina town of Canton, parishioners of the Amazing Grace Baptist Church will be having themselves a book burning.

But not just any books.

Satanic books.

Like Bibles.

If it’s not the King James Version, it’s Satanic, according to pastor Marc Grizzard: “The New Revised Version Bible, the American Standard Version Bible, and even the New King James Version are all pronounced to be works of the Devil by Pastor Grizzard and his followers.”

I’ve heard of the “King James Only Movement,” but I’ve never heard of anyone who’s gone so far as to accuse other translations of being demonic and then burn them.

“[We will be burning] books by a lot of different authors who we consider heretics, such as Billy Graham, Rick Warren… the list goes on and on,” Pastor Grizzard told reporters.

While their website is down, you can find a complete list of what they consider “Satanic” through Google Cache. (Be warned; it’s atrocious web design.)

However, the list is missing a little something.

Anything by me!

Pastor Grizzard, you can gladly burn some of my books. I’m a heretic! Run out right now and buy copies of Constellations or The Quality of Leadership. The latter is especially non-Christian. ❗

They’re having a barbeque cookout after the Bible and book burning. If you’re in the Canton area, I’m sure it’s going to be the hottest social event of Halloween. Mark your calendars.
