The teaser trailer for next autumn’s Downton Abbey movie dropped yesterday. Let’s take a look, shall we?
There is not much there. Lovely shots of Totleigh Towers… err, I mean, Downton Abbey there. Lots of shadow, lots of light. Shots that could have been stock footage from the original television series. Some crane pans (or drone shots) of Highclere Castle that are new. No sign of any identifiable character that we, the audience, know.
Yet, there are lovely touches. The cast list, given in character rather than by actor, is genuinely sweet.
I’m excited. Downton Abbey is probably my most-anticipated film of 2019. Yes, more than Avengers, more than Star Wars. No idea what the story will be. No idea what I want the story to be. Just leave me with a warm, fuzzy feeling and a nice smile, that’s all I ask.
