For the past month, I’ve been working with someone as the coder on a website he needed built that uses WordPress as its back-end. It’s been a fun little project, as it let me get my hands grubby with code and I got to try out some new WordPress coding techniques that I’ve never learned.
Like child themes. I’m used to editing the theme files directly — it’s how it’s always been done — so setting up the website as a child theme to an unmodified theme was a new and interesting way to work. (It also made one of the requests from the client incredibly easy; I needed only to modify one file in the child theme, whereas it would have taken edits to a dozen files to make the same change if I modified the theme files directly.)
Now I’m feeling the need for WordPress coding again.
And it dawned on me this morning that I’ve stayed with my present website design since the first week of August. Nearly a year! Long-time Allyn-ologists know how incredibly unlike me that is. 🙂
It’s not a definite that I’ll redesign the website, as I like what I currently have and I think it works for me.
But I do feel the itch to code something.
I just don’t know what. 🙂
