On Favorite Snack Foods

I have a thing for junkfood.

It’s a particular weakness of mine. I freely admit it. I try to be good, but then something happens, like my mother and sister combining to give me twelve pounds of gummi bears for my birthday.

In college my stand-by was Peanut Butter M&Ms. Or Peanut Butter Snickers. Or Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups. Suffice it to say, I love peanut butter. I sometimes joke that life without coffee isn’t worth living, but the truth is that, for me, a life without peanut butter would be pure hell.

Naturally, I have a great fondness for gummis as well, if birthday presents are anything to judge by. (Chocolate covered gummi bears, by the way, are a crime against humanity. You have been warned.)

In the last few years, I’ve turned to York Peppermint Patties (or cheap knockoffs) for my sweet needs. I’m also a fan of the Payday candy bar, which goes back to my fondness for peanuts and peanut butter.

Don’t ever give me Turkish Delight, though! That’s an atrocity.

Right now, the only thing I have around the house junk food-wise is mint chocolate chip sandwiches.

Of course, I’m likely as not to keep granola bars and animals crackers at the office. Animal crackers especially, as they’re just plain fun. 🙂

  1. With my recent Diabetes diagnosis, I’ve had to take a different view on snacks. But I used to love Twinkies, since I was a kid. Karen and I actually have an in-joke about it. The day before I was hospitalized with Pancreatitis, the vending machine at work had Twinkies, which they never do. I hadn’t had one in like years. Of course, I had one, and Karen joking blames it for landing me in the hospital. lol
