Writer, editor, journalist, coder, historian, and all-around scholar, Allyn Gibson<\/b> was the writer for Diamond Comic Distributors<\/a>‘ monthly PREVIEWS<\/i><\/b> catalog, used by comic book shops and throughout the comics industry, and the editor for its monthly order forms. In his nearly twenty years in the comics industry, Allyn interviewed comics luminaries including DC Comics Co-Publisher Jim Lee and From Hell<\/i> artist Eddie Campbell<\/a> as well as cartoonists such as Bloom County<\/i>‘s Berkeley Breathed<\/a> and writers and celebrities such as William Shatner and Kareem Abdul-Jabbar<\/a>. Allyn is also known for his short fiction (including the Star Trek<\/i> story “Make-Believe<\/a>” and the Doctor Who<\/i> short story “The Spindle of Necessity.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A Beatles fan, Allyn was “born under a Beatles sign,” he likes to say, during a stretch when Paul McCartney’s “My Love,” from Wings’ Red Rose Speedway<\/i> album and George Harrison’s “Give Me Love (Give Me Peace on Earth)<\/a>,” the first track from Living in the Material World<\/i>, topped the Billboard charts.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Allyn explores cemeteries for fun, and he is almost certainly the first graduate of Philippi, West Virginia’s Philip Barbour High School<\/a> to visit the grave of the school’s namesake, 19th-century Speaker of the House<\/a> and Associate Justice of the Supreme Court<\/a> Philip Pendleton Barbour<\/a> at Washington’s Congressional Cemetery<\/a>. <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
