And why not?<\/p>\n
I remember discovering WinAmp back in college. It was new at the time, and it seemed like all the cool kids were downloading WinAmp and ripping mp3s in those pre-Napster days. I’m not sure when I outgrew WinAmp–if I’d ever truly grown into<\/i> WinAmp, as I’d never used it for much–and though I had it pre-loaded on the computer I doubt I’d looked at it more than never in the past two years.<\/p>\n
I’d downloaded a podcast, though, and I discovered that nothing<\/i> I had would play it. Windows Media Player wouldn’t look at it. iTunes said the file had corrupt headers. RealPlayer said I needed to download a new driver, then it told me there was no<\/i> new driver.<\/p>\n
What about WinAmp, I thought?<\/p>\n
The version I had on my computer was horribly<\/i> out of date. Obviously, as I’d used it less than never. I downloaded a more recent version, installed it, and voila!<\/i> WinAmp would play the podcast! \ud83d\ude42<\/p>\n
And because I’m a compulsive tinkerer, I needed something different. A different look. So, naturally<\/i>, one’s thoughts turn instantly to Doctor Who<\/i>. Well, maybe if you’re me. \ud83d\ude09<\/p>\n
I found this Doctor Who<\/i> WinAmp skin<\/a>, and as you can see to the left it’s pretty<\/i>. A nice color scheme, a pleasing layout, and a nice use of Gallifreyan symbols for the various and sundry buttons. Also, within the WinAmp window your mouse pointer turns into a sonic screwdriver.
