Yesterday brought two surprises. The first, and potentially the most important, was that I got my power back after five days. Raleigh, North Carolina was hit by a massive ice storm on last Wednesday, leaving upwards of 70 percent of the Raleigh\/Durham area without electricity, and without electricity I had neither heat nor water. After promises from the power company that I would have power back on Thursday, Friday, and Sunday, yesterday morning they were saying Wednesday, and by that point in time I was near the point of shooting someone or taking a saw to an electrical pole somewhere simply out of spite. Electricity, then, came as a welcome surprise.<\/p>\n
The other surprise was a package in the mail. The bootleg Chinese fifth Harry Potter novel.<\/p>\n
I can’t even read Chinese, but it’s not for me. I thought it would make a fun Christmas gift for my sister. \ud83d\ude42<\/p>\n
Apparently you can also buy books six and seven in China. In one Harry turns into a dwarf with hairy feet. In another Harry learns that he’s Gandalf the Grey’s grandson.<\/p>\n
The cover of Harry Potter and Leopard-Walk-Up-To-Dragon<\/i> says it was written by J.K. Rowling. Has her picture. Has “Harry Potter” written in the movie font. Has screencaps from the first film as illustrations on some pages, has anime-styled Harry on others. Really, it’s quite an odd book. I’m curious what the story within is.
