I woke this morning at two.<\/p>\n
I’m not certain why. Might have been a sound that pierced the veil of sleep. Might have been a reaction to rolling over in bed, as I toss and turn a lot<\/i>.<\/p>\n
Two.<\/p>\n
In the past when I’ve woken at odd times of the morning, strange things have happened. My arms might feel like they’re… wrong. Wrong shape. Wrong place. Not even mine. Alien. An eye might be working, but it doesn’t register.<\/p>\n
It’s like the software is running, but it’s running wrong. The system’s clogged up.<\/p>\n
This morning?<\/p>\n
My hair was gone.<\/p>\n
I had my hair chopped off a few weeks ago. Not quite as short as I’ve worn it, but still very short.<\/p>\n
But when I woke up at two, my hair was gone.<\/p>\n
I even touched my head, and though I felt hair on the scalp, it felt… wrong<\/i>.<\/p>\n
After a few moments of momentary panic, I rolled over and went back to sleep.<\/p>\n
I think there’s a technical term for this–for the body feeling wrong when awoken suddenly. Body sleep morphism, or something like that.<\/p>\n
Eventually, though, I got back to sleep. All was good.<\/p>\n
Hair’s right. Arms are working. I don’t feel blind in the right eye.<\/p>\n
