I&#8217;ve been giving it some serious play time in my office stereo.<\/p>\n<p><i>Indian Summer<\/i>, the band&#8217;s fifth studio album, marks a change in the band&#8217;s musical direction, with the eleven songs all falling squarely in the guitar-based pop groove and the Celtic influences that marked <i>Ether-Electrified Porch Music<\/i> and <i>Echo Echo<\/i> wholly absent.  The music has a wistful quality, with the songs speaking to feelings of loss and longing.<\/p>\n<p>Stand out songs on the album include &#8220;Life Less Ordinary,&#8221; &#8220;What About Everything?&#8221; and the album&#8217;s masterpiece, &#8220;When I&#8217;m Alone.&#8221;  The album has sounds a little more produced, a little more polished than the band&#8217;s earlier albums, with echo and other effects on several tracks.<\/p>\n<p>Recommended.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The latest Carbon Leaf CD, Indian Summer, came in the mail last week.
