I tried to send an e-mail. I couldn’t connect to my SMTP server. Why? Because Earthlink had put up some extra jiggery-pokery to prevent spammers from using their servers.<\/p>\n
Well, yippee.<\/p>\n
My e-mail error log gave me a URL to visit. So I did.<\/p>\n
And it wasn’t helpful. If I used Outlook or Eudora, I’d be okay. It had instructions for those. But not The Bat<\/a>. Never The Bat.<\/p>\n I love<\/i> The Bat.<\/p>\n Fortunately, I am nothing<\/i>, if not a compulsive tinkerer. I read the Eudora directions. Eudora’s pretty basic. I understand a little bit about e-mail protocols. I knew I’d be able to puzzle out the right combination of settings to allow me to connect to Earthlink’s SMTP server.<\/p>\n How many different connections did I try?
