Years ago I lived in Amish country, a little east of Lancaster, Pennsylvania. There were some Amish farms on my road, and there were kids in the neighborhood. As Halloween approached, I felt a bit giddy inside — there were kids<\/i> in the neighborhood! Halloween! Amish kids! Halloween!<\/p>\n
I’d never really lived anywhere that trick-or-treating was done. There were never any kids around.<\/p>\n
Suffice it to say, this particular Halloween I was feeling downright giddy.<\/p>\n
And so, I stocked up on candy. Lots<\/i> of candy. These Amish kids, when they came door-to-door, they were going to be spoiled rotten. They were getting… candy!<\/b><\/p>\n
Halloween night came, and I had my candy. And I filled a bucket with it. And I sat on my front porch, waiting for the kids to come.<\/p>\n
The Amish kids never came.<\/p>\n
And I ate a lot<\/i> of candy.<\/p>\n
I discovered that the Amish don’t do Halloween. This was most disappointing. I really wanted<\/i> to give the Amish kids York Peppermint Patties and Smarties and the two or three other types of candy I’d stocked up on.<\/p>\n
This year? They gave out Little Archie<\/i> comics by the bundle for us to give out to kids at home if they come around. Little Archie<\/i>. Looking forward to it. \ud83d\ude42<\/p>\n
I haven’t bought any candy, though. Maybe I’ll stop at the store on the way home from work. Or on my lunch break. Something something.<\/p>\n
Ooh! I need popcorn. Or something. So I can watch cheesy horror movies. Like Billy the Kid vs. Dracula<\/i>. Yeah. Cheesy horror movies. \ud83d\ude42<\/p>\n
