The son of longtime DC Comics editor <a href=\"http:\/\/bgb.malibulist.com\/\">Bob Greenberger<\/a>, Robbie had been battling leukemia since January.  <a href=\"http:\/\/bgb.malibulist.com\/archives\/2008\/08\/the_final_week.html\">Thursday, Robbie&#8217;s battle came to an end<\/a>.  He was twenty.<\/p>\n<p>I wrote, Friday morning, a tribute to Robbie, and I never posted it.  Looking at tributes <a href=\"http:\/\/ben-krieg.livejournal.com\/21197.html\">better written<\/a> than mine, <a href=\"http:\/\/kradical.livejournal.com\/1354668.html\">more personal<\/a> than mine, <a href=\"http:\/\/infinitydog.livejournal.com\/21120.html\">more visceral<\/a> than mine, <a href=\"http:\/\/puppetmaker40.livejournal.com\/502289.html\">more touching<\/a> than mine, I thought anything I could add would be&#8230; more words.  I didn&#8217;t know what I had to add.  And thus, I was silent.<\/p>\n<p>This morning, I realized how to pay tribute to Robbie.<\/p>\n<p>Robbie was a comics and anime fan.  Last year, before he became ill, he put together programming for an anime and comics track for the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.farpointcon.com\/\">Farpoint convention<\/a> held here in Baltimore every February.  Farpoint hadn&#8217;t had comics programming before, and he wanted to add something new to the programming mix.<\/p>\n<p>I e-mailed the Farpoint Committee this morning, offering to pick up the torch, offering my services to pull it together.<\/p>\n<p>Robbie wanted comics and anime programming at Farpoint.<\/p>\n<p>I think that&#8217;s the best possible tribute.  To see that his dream carries on.<\/p>\n<p>I&#8217;ll pick up the torch and carry it.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Gondor will see it done.&#8221;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>On Thursday, Robbie Greenberger passed away.
