{"id":2032,"date":"2008-09-04T19:36:57","date_gmt":"2008-09-05T00:36:57","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.allyngibson.net\/?p=2032"},"modified":"2008-09-04T19:36:57","modified_gmt":"2008-09-05T00:36:57","slug":"on-my-first-blog-post","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.allyngibson.com\/?p=2032","title":{"rendered":"On My First Blog Post"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>I logged into my WordPress install this evening, not really having anything on my mind to blog about, until I saw a link to this &mdash; <a href=\"http:\/\/lorelle.wordpress.com\/2008\/09\/04\/do-you-remember-your-first-blog-post-if-you-do-you-could-win\/\">Do You Remember Your First Blog Post?<\/a><\/p>\n<p>WordPress gives me an aggregation of links to some WordPress-related blogs.  At one time I had a plugin installed that simply blocked that feature of the Dashboard, but with WordPress 2.5&#8217;s backend redesign those links &mdash; which used to take for-<i>freaking<\/i>-ever to load &mdash; came up quickly, and thus, in the past six months, I&#8217;ve reacquainted myself with some aspects of the WordPress community I&#8217;d ignored.<\/p>\n<p>I digress.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/lorelle.wordpress.com\/\">Lorelle on WordPress<\/a>, the blog on which said post above was on, is one of those blogs <i>about<\/i> WordPress I&#8217;ve begun to follow a bit more than I once did.  (It&#8217;s also how I started listening to Charles Strickland&#8217;s <a href=\"http:\/\/wp-community.org\/\">The WordPress podcast<\/a>, which I think is just absolutely fabulous.)  Lorelle&#8217;s post was advertising this, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.successful-blog.com\/1\/bring-back-that-brand-new-blogging-feeling-event\/\">a photo caption contest about recapturing the feeling that you had when you made your very first blog post<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The latest post on Lorelle&#8217;s blog, the one about remembering the first blog post, brought back some memories.<\/p>\n<p>As some people remember, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.allyngibson.com\/?p=1944\">I did a retro weekend<\/a> about six week ago; I&#8217;d found my old Greymatter design, and I brought it kicking and screaming into the WordPress world, partly as a challenge, and partly just to be different, and partly just to be silly.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.allyngibson.com\/?p=205\">My first post was this<\/a>.  It wasn&#8217;t anything significant.  It was a post to test Greymatter and make sure that it worked.<\/p>\n<p>My first <i>real<\/i> content post was this &mdash; <a href=\"http:\/\/www.allyngibson.com\/?p=206\">I walked in Wal-Mart in Parkesburg, Pennsylvania, and found a copy of Philip K. Dick&#8217;s <i>Minority Report<\/i> on the shelves<\/a>.  There are places in the world where you expect to find phildickian short story collections.
