He&#8217;s older, he&#8217;s slower, he knows that he&#8217;s physically no match.<\/p>\n<p>An artist has done an incredible job mixing portaits of John McCain with Frank Miller&#8217;s Batman dialogue and thought balloons from <i>The Dark Knight Returns<\/i>.  If Frank Miller, circa 1985, were writing John McCain&#8217;s innermost thoughts, <a href=\"http:\/\/shep.ca\/pages\/maverick.html\">the end result would be much like this<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>(The frightening thing?  I knew <i>exactly<\/i> where each of those captions came from, without having to pull my copy of <i>DKR<\/i> off the shelf.  Yup.)<\/p>\n<p>But what would Frank Miller write <i>today<\/i>?<\/p>\n<p>Probably something like this, riffing off a scene from <i>All-Star Batman and Robin<\/i>&#8230;<br \/>\n<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.allyngibson.com\/graphics\/mccain.jpg\" width=\"305\" height=\"231\" border=\"1\" alt=\"I'm the Goddamn McCain!\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Do we <i>really<\/i> want the goddamn McCain as our next President?<\/p>\n<p>Okay, and who&#8217;s going to pick up the gauntlet and match Sarah Palin to the dialogue from <i>All-Star Batman and Robin, the Boy Wonder<\/i> #10, hmm? \ud83d\ude06<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Consider Frank Miller&#8217;s The Dark Knight Returns.
