From this day forward, the fifth of November will be remembered for two reasons.<\/p>\n
It will be remembered for Guy Fawkes and the Gunpowder Plot.<\/p>\n
And it will be remembered for being the first day where people around the world will wake up and say, “Barack Obama is the President-Elect of the United States.”<\/p>\n
Not more than five minutes ago, just as the clock turned to 11:00 and the polls closed on the west coast, Charlie Gibson of ABC News called the election for Barack Obama.<\/p>\n
Virginia went for Obama. Let that sink in. Virginia went for Obama.<\/p>\n
I’ll stay up and watch more election returns come in. Then, I’m going to have to drag myself out of bed in the morning.<\/p>\n
And after work? I’ll watch V For Vendetta<\/i>.<\/p>\n
Because, what’s more appropriate on this<\/i> Fifth of November than a film about the celebration of the human spirit over the forces of tyranny and repression?<\/p>\n
