This weekend, I’m at the Farpoint<\/a> convention here in Baltimore.<\/p>\n

This is my fourth Farpoint. My first was back in the halcyon days of 2006. I remember it well, mostly because of the carpet at the Hunt Valley Marriott.<\/p>\n

The convention has moved, a little closer to Baltimore.<\/p>\n

Alan Tudyk, better known as Wash from Firefly<\/i>, is the headlining guest this year. I’m also looking forward to seeing again Harve Bennett, the producer on the Star Trek<\/b> films in the 1980s.<\/p>\n

Should be fun. \ud83d\ude42<\/p>\n

While I’m gone, though, enjoy this — anime Doctor Who<\/i><\/a>. That’s just made of 100 kinds of awesome!<\/p>\n

Another kind of awesome? Something on my desk at work…<\/p>\n

Over a year ago, I was given some Dark Knight Returns<\/i> action figures. Yes, action figures based on Frank Miller’s seminal graphic novel, with the big, bulky Batman. Months later, I was given an Action TARDIS for the Doctor Who<\/i> action figures. For some reason, it amused me to take this TARDIS and put the big, bulky Frank Miller-esque Batman and have him emerge from the TARDIS. So, the doors to the TARDIS are propped open, and Batman barely squeezes out the door.<\/p>\n

If I had a digital camera, I’d take a picture of this. It’s awesome to see, because it’s so incongruous — Batman traveling in the TARDIS. \ud83d\ude42<\/p>\n

Of course, I’m the person who thinks Jean-Luc Picard spent the years between the loss of the Stargazer<\/i> and his assumption of command of the Enterprise<\/i>-D by traveling with the sixth Doctor and Frobisher.
