There are times I’m glad I no longer work for EB Games\/GameStop. Opening up my e-mail inbox today was one of those times.<\/p>\n
Here’s the subject line:<\/p>\n
Hugenormous Savings at GameStop!<\/p><\/blockquote>\n
“Hugenormous”? Whiskey tango foxtrot?<\/p>\n
It doesn’t roll off the tongue, not the way “ginormous” does.<\/p>\n
How do you pronounce that? “Hug… enormous”? “Hew… gee.. normous”?<\/p>\n
I’m leaning toward “Huggy-normous.” Which sounds baffling and stupid.<\/p>\n
Another linguistic and literary gem from this wonderful spammish e-mail: “Didn’t King of Fighters XII Marry Henry VIII’s Sister?” Umm, that would be… no<\/b>.<\/p>\n
And here I was, thinking about going into a GameStop and pre-ordering some games. Like Beatles Rock Band<\/i>. or Watchmen: The End Is Nigh<\/i>.<\/p>\n
But why support GameStop’s mangling of the English language with my consumer dollars?<\/p>\n
Huggy-normous.<\/p>\n
Jeez.<\/p>\n
