  1. What did you do in 2004 that you’d never done before?<\/b>
    Visit Florida. I’d always wanted to go, and this year the company’s annual managers’ conference was held in Orlando.\n<\/li>\n
  2. Did you keep your new years’ resolutions, and will you make more for next year?<\/b>
    As a child I never made New Year’s Resolutions. I’m not planning on starting now.\n<\/li>\n
  3. Did anyone close to you give birth?<\/b>
    No.\n<\/li>\n
  4. Did anyone close to you die?<\/b>
    No.\n<\/li>\n
  5. What countries did you visit?<\/b>
    person, nowhere.\n<\/li>\n
  6. What would you like to have in 2005 that you lacked in 2004?<\/b>
    Friendship.\n<\/li>\n
  7. What date from 2004 will remain etched upon your memory, and why?<\/b>
    July 9th, because that was the first day of Shore Leave, and my first book-signing.\n<\/li>\n
  8. What was your biggest achievement of the year?<\/b>
    The World of WarCraft<\/i> midnight opening at work–I planned on twenty people showing up, and instead had several times that number.\n<\/li>\n
  9. What was your biggest failure?<\/b>My inability to finish a novel outline–it grew, and it grew, and it grew some more, and it was depressing as hell.\n<\/li>\n
  10. Did you suffer illness or injury?<\/b>
    No, another healthy year.\n<\/li>\n
  11. What was the best thing you bought?<\/b>
    My new car–a 2005 Volkswagen Beetle.\n<\/li>\n
  12. Whose behavior merited celebration?<\/b>
    Sometimes, my staff’s.\n<\/li>\n
  13. Whose behavior made you appalled and depressed?<\/b>
    Sometimes, my staff’s.\n<\/li>\n
  14. Where did most of your money go?<\/b>
    My student loans.\n<\/li>\n
  15. What did you get really, really, really excited about?<\/b>
    Hellboy<\/i>, the movie.\n<\/li>\n
  16. What song will always remind you of 2004?<\/b>
    “Run,” by Snow Patrol.\n<\/li>\n
  17. Compared to this time last year, are you:<\/b>
    \n      i. happier or sadder?<\/b> About the same.
    \n     ii. thinner or fatter?<\/b> Thinner.
    \n    iii. richer or poorer?<\/b> Poorer.\n<\/li>\n
  18. What do you wish you’d done more of?<\/b>
    Actual writing, as opposed to research, plotting, and character building that my writing days usually turned into.\n<\/li>\n
  19. What do you wish you’d done less of?<\/b>Work. I was notorious for not going home, spending fifty-plus hours at the store each week. I’m not sure that it gained me anything.\n<\/li>\n
  20. How will you be spending Christmas?<\/b>
    I spent Christmas with my parents, brother, and sisters.\n<\/li>\n
  21. Did you fall in love in 2004?<\/b>
    Tragically, yes.\n<\/li>\n
  22. How many one-night stands?<\/b>
    None.\n<\/li>\n
  23. What was your favorite TV program?<\/b>
    I watched very little television in 2004, probably less than I did in 2003. I never missed The Practice<\/i>, though, and I thought its final season was, in many ways, a return to the show’s glory years. I really like the spin-off, Boston Legal<\/i>, but it’s also just not the same.\n<\/li>\n
  24. Do you hate anyone now that you didn’t hate this time last year?<\/b>
    Other than the people running the country, no.\n<\/li>\n
  25. What was the best book you read?<\/b>
    Jonathan Strange & Mr Norrell<\/i>.\n<\/li>\n
  26. What was your greatest musical (re)discovery?<\/b>
    Snow Patrol. I wasn’t too hot on the two bands others thought I would like, Franz Ferdinand and Modest Mouse.\n<\/li>\n
  27. What did you want and get?<\/b>
    I don’t know that I wanted anything<\/i> last year.\n<\/li>\n
  28. What did you want and not get?<\/b>
    I wanted Van Helsing<\/i> to be a good, fun film, a real tribute to the Universal Monsters, and instead the loud, crass film disappointed and upset me at every turn.\n<\/li>\n
  29. What was your favorite film of this year?<\/b>
    King Arthur<\/i>.\n<\/li>\n
  30. What did you do on your birthday, and how old were you?<\/b>
    I have no idea what I did on my birthday–I probably worked. I turned thirty-one.\n<\/li>\n
  31. What one thing would have made your year immeasurably more satisfying?<\/b>
    Friends.\n<\/li>\n
  32. How would you describe your personal fashion concept in 2004?<\/b>
    Comfortable.\n<\/li>\n
  33. What kept you sane?<\/b>
    Someone<\/i> had to stay sane.\n<\/li>\n
  34. Which celebrity\/public figure did you fancy the most?<\/b>
    Keira Knightley.\n<\/li>\n
  35. What political issue stirred you the most?<\/b>
    The Presidential election.\n<\/li>\n
  36. Who did you miss?<\/b>
    I would have loved to talk about the election with some of my friends from college.\n<\/li>\n

    The staff I hired between June and December.\n<\/li>\n
