{"id":33527,"date":"2022-01-02T20:18:04","date_gmt":"2022-01-03T01:18:04","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.allyngibson.com\/?p=33527"},"modified":"2022-01-02T20:19:04","modified_gmt":"2022-01-03T01:19:04","slug":"that-road-tripping-wanderlust","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.allyngibson.com\/?p=33527","title":{"rendered":"That Road Tripping Wanderlust"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>There are times, on my morning drive to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.diamondcomics.com\/Home\/1\/1\/3\/103\" data-type=\"URL\" data-id=\"https:\/\/www.diamondcomics.com\/Home\/1\/1\/3\/103\">Diamond<\/a>&#8216;s offices in Hunt Valley, that I reach the Shawan Road exit on I-83 and, for a brief moment, I feel like I should just keep going.  I&#8217;ve no idea where I go or what I&#8217;d do when I get there &#8212; wherever <em>there<\/em> is &#8212; but the wanderlust is there, lurking, waiting.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed aligncenter is-type-rich is-provider-twitter wp-block-embed-twitter\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"550\" data-dnt=\"true\"><p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">At least once a month I near the Shawan Road exit and think, &quot;I could be halfway to the Gulf by nightfall.&quot; <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/jVCgctLIDs\">https:\/\/t.co\/jVCgctLIDs<\/a><\/p>&mdash; Allyn Gibson (@allyngibson) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/allyngibson\/status\/1453198868506677257?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">October 27, 2021<\/a><\/blockquote><script async src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script>\n<\/div><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>It&#8217;s nothing to do with the COVID pandemic; I like to drive and, even before the pandemic, I didn&#8217;t have many opportunities to do so.  (<a href=\"http:\/\/www.allyngibson.com\/?p=31933\" data-type=\"URL\" data-id=\"http:\/\/www.allyngibson.com\/?p=31933\">My April 2019 not-quite-a-week vacation to North Carolina<\/a> was my first break from Diamond in almost a decade.)  Sometimes, you just want to <em>go<\/em>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If I were to win the lottery, I have dreamt of a baseball road trip, hitting as many major league, minor league, and college stadiums in a single summer as I possibly could.  Start in February with spring training, end in October with the postseason.  It&#8217;s not a realistic dream &#8212; and I&#8217;m not even sure how it would work with my visual impairments these days &#8212; but it&#8217;s the platonic ideal road trip for me.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>More realistically, I&#8217;d love to go to Canada.  I&#8217;d like to see Montreal, where decisive battles in the French and Indian War and the Revolutionary War were fought.  I&#8217;d like to see Halifax in Nova Scotia. It&#8217;s a pretty land, and I&#8217;d like to see it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Go in late summer &#8212; late July, early August.
