{"id":33880,"date":"2022-09-13T18:00:20","date_gmt":"2022-09-13T23:00:20","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.allyngibson.com\/?p=33880"},"modified":"2025-01-30T17:46:00","modified_gmt":"2025-01-30T22:46:00","slug":"victory-at-last","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.allyngibson.com\/?p=33880","title":{"rendered":"Victory at Last!"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">It has been my dream since Diamond went WFH two and a half years ago &#8212; March 18, 2020 &#8212; <a href=\"http:\/\/www.allyngibson.com\/?p=32531\">to connect my Linux Mint install to the work VPN<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">I have tilted at this windmill for two and a half years, and for two and a half years its arms have thrown me and my trusty coconuts to the ground again and again.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Today, I smote that windmill. Today, I let forth a barbaric yawp.<\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1200\" height=\"675\" src=\"http:\/\/www.allyngibson.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/09\/support.jpg\" alt=\"A screenshot showing Diamond's IT Support website and my Neofetch\" class=\"wp-image-33881\"\/><figcaption>A screenshot showing Diamond&#8217;s IT Support website and my Neofetch<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The screenshot won&#8217;t mean much to anyone outside of Diamond, but I have my browser open to two websites &#8212; NewsManager and the Diamond IT website &#8212; that are not accessible outside of Diamond&#8217;s network, overlaid with my Neofetch that shows I&#8217;m running Mint Vanessa.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">When my phone buzzed from the two-factor authentication, I held my breath.  And when the network icon in my status bar changed to show my network connection was now different, I was awed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">It worked!  It finally worked!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Now to find a remote desktop client so I can, y&#8217;know, do work.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Tomorrow I&#8217;ll document what I did, because someone else may want to someday.
