Yesterday was beautiful. Sunny, warm with temperatures flirting with seventy.<\/p>\n
It rained through the night. Temperatures fell into the forties. But the rain ended before the alarm clock went off, and while the world looked dreary on the way into work, I thought the worst of the weather was behind us.<\/p>\n
Hardly.<\/p>\n
The clouds were grey. They changed to black.<\/p>\n
A crack of thunder. The wind whipped up. Rain fell in sheets against the store’s windows.<\/p>\n
Then the hail began, falling from the sky, piling up against the windows, beating against the door.<\/p>\n
More thunder. The power at the store tripped. The phone lines went out briefly in the middle of a conference call.<\/p>\n
Fifteen minutes later the hail turned back to rain.<\/p>\n
By ten the rain stopped. By noon the clouds cleared off, and the afternoon was clear, if brisk.<\/p>\n
