{"id":34508,"date":"2025-06-24T15:31:57","date_gmt":"2025-06-24T20:31:57","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.allyngibson.com\/?p=34508"},"modified":"2025-06-24T21:46:12","modified_gmt":"2025-06-25T02:46:12","slug":"they-say-its-your-birthday","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.allyngibson.com\/?p=34508","title":{"rendered":"They Say It&#8217;s Your Birthday"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This was an unexpected surprise &#8212; the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.richmond.edu\">University of Richmond<\/a> sent me a cute little video for my <em>grumble-grumble<\/em> birthday.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-video\"><video height=\"1080\" style=\"aspect-ratio: 1440 \/ 1080;\" width=\"1440\" controls src=\"http:\/\/www.allyngibson.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/06\/final-67a293f9d1ca1-185085918.mp4\"><\/video><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The second building (the international center) and the fourth building (the football stadium) weren&#8217;t there when I was there a quarter century ago, so I have no emotional attachment to them.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Nevertheless, the idea was a lovely one, and I think this is cute.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">I was at an alumni event last week.  Haven&#8217;t written about that yet.  Will in a day or two.  Right now, it&#8217;s just too blooming hot to think.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">It was <strong>hot<\/strong> today.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-fullwidth\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1200\" height=\"900\" src=\"http:\/\/www.allyngibson.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/06\/20250624_173808-1200x900.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-34510\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The last time I had work done on my car, they had to disconnect the battery, and my thermometer in the car reads in Celsius.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">40 degrees!  If my maths are correct&#8230; why, that&#8217;s 104 degrees Fahrenheit!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-fullwidth\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1200\" height=\"720\" src=\"http:\/\/www.allyngibson.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/06\/20250624_182539-1200x720.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-34511\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">I went to Red Robin <em>(yum!)<\/em> for dinner.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">As the Grail Knight would say, &#8220;You have chosen&#8230; wisely.&#8221;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>This was an unexpected surprise &#8212; the University of Richmond sent me a cute little video for my grumble-grumble birthday.
