I still will not say I&#8217;m <i>great<\/i>, I&#8217;m not even sure that I&#8217;m <em>good<\/em>, but I&#8217;m seeing regular success.<\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"912\" height=\"757\" src=\"http:\/\/www.allyngibson.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/10\/Screenshot_20251020_183457.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-34849\"\/><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n<p>This one was pretty straightforward.  Nothing remarkable here.  I&#8217;ve moved five pieces off the board, while white is still moving pieces toward its home.<\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"912\" height=\"757\" src=\"http:\/\/www.allyngibson.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/10\/Screenshot_20251020_185420.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-34850\"\/><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n<p>This one was definitely messy and a slugfest.  In a way, white has me boxed in&#8230; on my own side of the board, while I also have white boxed in and keeping it from moving to my side of the board.  I was able to get around white while still keeping white bottled up somewhat.<\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"912\" height=\"757\" src=\"http:\/\/www.allyngibson.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/10\/Screenshot_20251020_190751.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-34851\"\/><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n<p>This one was a delight.  White ended up in a position where I sent one of its pieces off the board and the way I filled in my home quadrant white was unable to get it back on.  This was another vistory.<\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter size-fullwidth\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1200\" height=\"750\" src=\"http:\/\/www.allyngibson.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/10\/Screenshot_20251019_181702-1200x750.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-34848\"\/><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n<p>My <em>piece de resistance!<\/em>  This was yesterday, and this one was going to be a coinflip.  White was definitely in the better position going into the endgame, but some lucky rolls and I was right there, removing pieces at the same pace&#8230; and then it came down to each of us having one piece left to remove&#8230; and it was my move!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This one was definitely satisfying.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Now that I&#8217;m gaining confidence, just watch &#8212; I&#8217;ll have a run of a dozen games where the computer absolutely crushes me. \ud83d\ude06<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>As Jimmie Nicol, the ex-Beatles drummer said, &#8220;getting better!&#8221;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>I&#8217;m getting the hang of this backgammon thing.
