{"id":35012,"date":"2025-12-24T22:49:36","date_gmt":"2025-12-25T03:49:36","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.allyngibson.com\/?p=35012"},"modified":"2025-12-24T22:49:36","modified_gmt":"2025-12-25T03:49:36","slug":"holiday-road-photos-ii","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.allyngibson.com\/?p=35012","title":{"rendered":"Holiday Road Photos II"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Today was the second stage of my holiday adventures, going from Lynchburg to Raleigh.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>My siblings and I had discussed with my dad the possibility of me bringing him to North Carolina, and while he was receptive Sunday and Monday, yesterday he didn&#8217;t feel up to the trip.  He&#8217;s eighty-four and frail, and it&#8217;s a long trip.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Like my trip from Winchester to Culpeper, I again took a road less traveled &#8212; the Family Dollar General Highway.  In other words, US 501, which seemed to have either a Family Dollar or a Dollar General about every three miles between Lynchburg and South Boston.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I stopped at two random churches along the way and wandered around their cemeteries.  These photos all look weird, as I had unintentionally flipped the camera over into the wide-angle mode and didn&#8217;t notice until I was in Raleigh.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>My brother-in-law wanted to go to church tonight, so we went to a local United Methodist Church.
