{"id":35141,"date":"2026-01-26T11:26:26","date_gmt":"2026-01-26T16:26:26","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.allyngibson.com\/?p=35141"},"modified":"2026-01-26T17:39:02","modified_gmt":"2026-01-26T22:39:02","slug":"somehow-the-frost-giants-survived","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.allyngibson.com\/?p=35141","title":{"rendered":"Somehow the Frost Giants Survived"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Legend tells that in ancient times the mighty Odin slew the Frost Giants and brought to an end an unceasing age of cold and darkness.<\/p>\n<p>Somehow the Frost Giants survived.<\/p>\n<p>I don&#8217;t know how much snow and ice fell yesterday, though I&#8217;ve seen that the official total for Red Lion (ie., a town next door in easy walking distance) was 9 inches.  And I&#8217;m fine with that.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1200\" height=\"720\" src=\"http:\/\/www.allyngibson.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/01\/20260126_070804.jpg\" alt=\"The view out my door just after dawn. The sidewalk is again covered, and everything is white.\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-35138\" \/><\/p>\n<p>It was over by about 8 o&#8217;clock last night.  I shoveled the walk late yesterday afternoon, and clearing it this morning wasn&#8217;t especially difficult.  It was frozen but easy to break up and cleared quickly.<\/p>\n<p>There are crews working on clearing the rest of the sidewalks, and I expect a snow plow later.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1200\" height=\"720\" src=\"http:\/\/www.allyngibson.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/01\/20260126_102937.jpg\" alt=\"My sidewalk cleared. Not that I can go anywhere, mind you...\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-35139\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Some people have already gone out on the roads.  From what I can see, they&#8217;ve been cleared.  Or, at least Walnut Street, which is <i>all<\/i> I can see, has been.<\/p>\n<p>Early forecasts show another big storm coming up this weekend.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1200\" height=\"720\" src=\"http:\/\/www.allyngibson.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/01\/20260126_103014.jpg\" alt=\"The parking lot, covered in ice packed snow. End this rampage of Frost Giant and bring warmth to these forsaken lands once more!<\/p>\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator\" \/>\n<p>Some pictures from later in the afternoon.<\/p>\n<p>I walked down Walnut street to the field that overlooks all of Yoe.  It was quiet.  I passed a few people still digging out their cars.
