One was a reference book, another was a history book on the development of the prize courts during the Age of Fighting Sail, another was the first of the <b>Star Trek: Titan<\/b> novels, and a medieval mystery novel a friend had recommended to me.<\/p>\n<p>So, I&#8217;ve read the first eighty pages of the mystery novel.  And there&#8217;s something nagging at the back of my mind.<\/p>\n<p>Then I realized.<\/p>\n<p>I&#8217;d read this frelling book already.<\/p>\n<p>No, not this <i>exact<\/i> book.  But it&#8217;s remarkably similar in style, structure, even plot, to a novel I read about eight years ago.  Except that one wasn&#8217;t a medieval mystery.<\/p>\n<p>It&#8217;s probably a big honking coincidence.  In fact, I&#8217;m <i>sure<\/i> it&#8217;s a big honking coincidence.<\/p>\n<p>Still, it&#8217;s mildly frustrating, because I find myself getting bored because this book seems way too familiar to me.  Then there&#8217;s the problem of nothing really exciting or important happening in the bit that I&#8217;ve read, and at eighty pages I&#8217;m already a quarter of the way through the book.<\/p>\n<p>Oh, well.<\/p>\n<p>As for <i>Taking Wing<\/i>, the <b>Star Trek: Titan<\/b> novel, it&#8217;s been fun, if a little on the fanwanky side.
