No, the Colin Firth\/Ruth Gemmell film isn&#8217;t particularly well known, but it&#8217;s adequate, it hits its notes, and it&#8217;s, well, <i>English<\/i>.  I&#8217;m having a hard time picturing this story translating to something with Drew Barrymore.  <i>High Fidelity<\/i> mostly survived a trans-Atlantic transplanting, but would <i>Fever Pitch<\/i>? There&#8217;s not a sport on this side of the pond that has anywhere near the social impact of soccer.
