This year it falls the weekend after, beginning on February the 18th.

I’ve been attending Farpoint since 2006, and this year marks my fourth as a guest.

Last weekend, I received my guest survey, which asks what I want to do at the convention, how many panels I’m available for, when I’m arriving and leaving, that sort of thing. I filled it out promptly, and I pitched a half-dozen panels I’d like to do on topics ranging from social media to Steven Moffat’s Sherlock to HBO’s A Game of Thrones. I also said I’d do a turn at the autograph table; I have back issues of Star Trek Magazine to flog, dagnabbit! 😉

The most off-beat thing I pitched? I’d love to do a panel on The Beatles. It’s a broad topic, I don’t have anything in particular I’d like to say, maybe just discuss with an audience the enduring cultural appeal of the Fab Four after nearly fifty years. As I said, it’s completely off-beat, and I think I might burn CDs of bootlegs to give away to anyone who attended. Assuming the panel makes the schedule, that is…

We shall see. Judging by this preliminary schedule, right now I may not be doing a lot this Farpoint, like maybe only the 4 o’clock Saturday Doctor Who panel.

It may well turn out that I’ll be spending my time at the hotel bar, or possibly at the Irish pub up the street, out of a sheer lack of things to do. :h2g2:

There are many reasons to attend Farpoint this year. Tahmoh Penikett from Dollhouse is the headlining guest, plus Laurie Holden from The Walking Dead and Bonita Friedricy from Chuck.

Farpoint has always been a nice, small convention. The hotel is really snazzy, there’s a real sense of community, and even if you’re a first-timer everyone you see at Farpoint is your bestest-ever friend.

Hard to believe it’s only a month away….

I realized today that we’re a month away from Farpoint.
