{"id":5607,"date":"2011-02-02T22:55:07","date_gmt":"2011-02-03T03:55:07","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.allyngibson.net\/?p=5607"},"modified":"2015-03-29T15:21:10","modified_gmt":"2015-03-29T15:21:10","slug":"on-writing-political-tracts","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.allyngibson.com\/?p=5607","title":{"rendered":"On Writing Political Tracts"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Recently, I&#8217;ve been thinking of writing a book on politics.<\/p>\n<p>I go in the bookstores, and I see lots of books in the politics\/current affairs section on being a libertarian or being a conservative, and how the future is with the Republican Party and its conservative\/libertarianism.  I see fewer books from the other side of the aisle, but they&#8217;re there, too.<\/p>\n<p>I don&#8217;t see any books for <i>me<\/i>.<\/p>\n<p>I want to see a book about how the Republican Party, if it is to forge a Republican future, must embrace its socialist and progressive roots, must carry forward its tradition of social justice and civil rights.<\/p>\n<p>In others words, a book about how to be a Teddy Roosevelt Republican in the 21st century. \ud83d\ude42<\/p>\n<p>I look at today&#8217;s Republican leadership, and I don&#8217;t see a man fit to lick Roosevelt&#8217;s boot.  None are of his intellectual caliber.  Roosevelt was a man of boundless energy and limitless ideas.<\/p>\n<p>I don&#8217;t see energy <i>or<\/i> ideas from Mitch McConnell or John Boehner.  Repealing health care reform is a priority, but <a href=\"http:\/\/www.allyngibson.com\/?p=5578\">the Republicans have no ideas with which to replace it<\/a>.  Putting the American financial house in order is vital, but <a href=\"http:\/\/www.allyngibson.com\/?p=5591\">Republican plans would send the economy over the cliff<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>I don&#8217;t know that I&#8217;ll actually write it, but I&#8217;m <i>thinking<\/i> about it&#8230; \ud83d\ude09<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Recently, I&#8217;ve been thinking of writing a book on politics.
