Years ago, six now, I bought the Lennon Anthology<\/i> boxed set. I think I may have listened to this set once<\/i>. Yes, yes, I know.<\/p>\n
Needing something to listen to while hammering away at an outline I decided to pull out the Lennon Anthology<\/i> and give it a listen. Demos, unfinished songs, alternate takes. Some people eat this stuff up. I<\/i> eat this stuff up, considering the lengths I went through to acquire the Lennon’s bootleg The Dakota Beatles Demos<\/i><\/a>.<\/p>\n So, this alternate take of “Nobody Told Me.” The “finished” song, which wasn’t really finished, was released on the posthumous Milk and Honey<\/i> album. It’s catchy. It’s bouncey. It has a cool, yet non-sensical, lyric. I just love it. I haven’t listened to Milk and Honey<\/i> in a while to tell you how the alternate take is different. And it doesn’t really matter. It’s just a great song<\/i>.<\/p>\n Nobody told me there’d be days like these. How can someone not<\/i> like a chorus like that, with its clanging piano line?<\/p>\n Maybe it’s one of those songs that you just have to be there for.
