For the past month, I’ve been working with someone as the coder on a website he needed built that uses WordPress as its back-end. It’s been a fun little project, as it let me get my hands grubby with code and I got to try out some new WordPress coding techniques that I’ve never learned.<\/p>\n
Like child themes. I’m used to editing the theme files directly — it’s how it’s always been done — so setting up the website as a child theme to an unmodified theme was a new and interesting way to work. (It also made one of the requests from the client incredibly<\/i> easy; I needed only to modify one file in the child theme, whereas it would have taken edits to a dozen files to make the same change if I modified the theme files directly.)<\/p>\n
Now I’m feeling the need<\/i> for WordPress coding again.<\/p>\n
And it dawned on me this morning that I’ve stayed with my present website design since the first week of August. Nearly a year! Long-time Allyn-ologists know how incredibly unlike me that is. \ud83d\ude42<\/p>\n
It’s not a definite<\/i> that I’ll redesign the website, as I like what I currently have and I think it works for me.<\/p>\n
But I do<\/i> feel the itch to code something<\/i>.<\/p>\n
