{"id":6147,"date":"2011-12-05T13:41:38","date_gmt":"2011-12-05T18:41:38","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.allyngibson.net\/?p=6147"},"modified":"2011-12-05T13:41:38","modified_gmt":"2011-12-05T18:41:38","slug":"on-guest-blogging-about-tennyson","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.allyngibson.com\/?p=6147","title":{"rendered":"On Guest-Blogging About Tennyson"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>While blogging here has gone from a nearly-daily thing to a twice-a-week thing (if I&#8217;m lucky &mdash; life&#8217;s become an endless deadline), today saw the publication of a guest blog post I wrote for <a href=\"http:\/\/feelinglistless.blogspot.com\/\">Stuart Ian Burns<\/a>, a blogger in Liverpool.<\/p>\n<p>Stuart asked me to ponder the two most quoted lines of Alfred, Lord Tennyson&#8217;s &#8220;In Memorium, A.A.H.&#8221; &mdash; &#8220;Tis better to have loved and lost \/ Than never to have loved at all.&#8221;  I did, though maybe not in the way that Stuart envisioned when he made the request.  I was honored to be asked to participate in his year-end review, and you can read my thoughts on what those lines mean <a href=\"http:\/\/feelinglistless.blogspot.com\/2011\/12\/opinion-engine-20-531-do-you-agree-with.html\">here<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>I should state, by the way, that <a href=\"http:\/\/feelinglistless.blogspot.com\/\">Stuart&#8217;s blog<\/a> is one that I enjoy reading.  He was one of my favorite bloggers at &#8220;Behind the Sofa,&#8221; a <i>Doctor Who<\/i> review blog, and on his personal blog he covers a range of topic from <i>Who<\/i> to film to Shakespeare to British politics to <a href=\"http:\/\/feelinglistless.blogspot.com\/2011\/12\/opinion-engine-20-431-whats-your.html\">the appeal of Zooey Deschanel<\/a>.
