Three weeks ago I mentioned that I was writing a new short story. If you followed me on Twitter on Saturday and Sunday, you may have noticed that I was writing furiously on the story. I had a deadline to meet, after all.<\/p>\n
Yesterday I finished the story. The first draft weighed in a little shy of 13,000 words.<\/p>\n
I read the story fresh this morning. It worked.<\/p>\n
This afternoon, after some rewriting and some cutting, I set the story free and sent it off to the editor.<\/p>\n
I liked it. It’s different.<\/p>\n
There’s philosophy and sociology and metaphysics and history and religion.<\/p>\n
There’s sunlight and there’s storms. There’s anger and there’s love.<\/p>\n
And there’s baseball.<\/p>\n
Yes, I wrote a baseball story.<\/p>\n
It’s called “The Ginger Kid.”<\/p>\n
I’ll have more details when I can share them.<\/p>\n
