I posted yesterday<\/a> about a “fandom meme” going around–post a fandom in the comments, and I’ll answer ten questions about the fandom. We start with PsiQueue, who wanted to know about my feelings on the James Bond universe. Here goes. \ud83d\ude42<\/p>\n

  1. The first character I first fell in love with<\/b>
    Naturally, James Bond. \ud83d\ude09
    Specifically, it was the Roger Moore James Bond.<\/li>\n
  2. The character I never expected to love as much as I do now<\/b>
    The George Lazenby James Bond. As a kid I grew up liking the Roger Moore films better than any of the others, and On Her Majesty’s Secret Service<\/i> was hard<\/i> to take, especially because Lazenby was so<\/i> unlike Roger Moore. As I’ve grown up, though, my appreciation for Moore has decreased and my appreciation for Lazenby has increased tremendously. Lazenby would have been, as Cubby Broccoli said in the early 70s, the best of all the Bonds, and the proof is there in OHMSS<\/i>.<\/li>\n
  3. The character everyone else loves that I don’t<\/b>
    Q.<\/li>\n
  4. The character I love that everyone else hates<\/b>
    Jack Wade of the CIA. I don’t know anyone who likes Joe Don Baker’s character from GoldenEye<\/i> and Tomorrow Never Dies<\/i>, yet I like his imbecilic, arrogant swagger. And the incongruity of the Hawaiian shirt he wears in TND<\/i> while Pierce Brosnan’s Bond is dressed in his Royal Navy blues. Frankly, I’d rather have seen Wade in Die Another Day<\/i> than Michael Madsen’s CIA spook.<\/li>\n
  5. The character I used to love but don’t any longer<\/b>
    Jaws, from The Spy Who Loved Me<\/i> and Moonraker<\/i>. He was cool when I was ten. Now, I’m not ten any longer, and I find him a completely pointless supervillain henchman.<\/li>\n
  6. The character I would shag anytime<\/b>
    Kara Milovy, from The Living Daylights<\/i>.<\/li>\n
  7. The character I’d want to be like<\/b>
    Well, Bond<\/i>. Who wouldn’t<\/i> want to be James Bond? \ud83d\ude42<\/li>\n
  8. The character I’d slap<\/b>
    Miss Moneypenny, to shake her of her pointless, unrequitted schoolgirl crush on Bond.<\/li>\n
  9. A pairing that I love<\/b>
    Bond and Tracy, from On Her Majesty’s Secret Service<\/i>. Tracy, along with Kara from The Living Daylights<\/i>, is one of the two Bond girls that I feel Bond had genuine feelings for, and Tracy gets the nod because Bond actually marries her, though with tragic results.<\/li>\n
  10. A pairing that I despise<\/b>
    Bond and Stacey Sutton, from A View to a Kill<\/i>. Stacey is, without a doubt, the absolute worst<\/i> Bond girl ever<\/i>, and Roger Moore was way<\/i> too old and craggy looking to be convincing in View<\/i>.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n
