Jesus. Fucking. Christ.<\/p>\n
Today has been something of an emotional roller-coaster.<\/p>\n
Someone whom I hired, someone whom I used to work with day-in and day-out, someone whom I consider a friend, called me today to talk about his future. And it wasn’t an optimistic conversation — I couldn’t really give him a good reason why he should stay with the job he has and why he wouldn’t be happier doing something else. Not a great way to begin the day.<\/p>\n
And then, my supervisor called. Fifty district managers were fired the day before. The Wednesday Morning Massacre. People that I once worked for, people I once considered friends, now out the door. New owners, new ways of doing things. And the realization that the company I work for is now just a name on the door, that who we were and what made us unique has reached its conclusion.<\/p>\n
So, it was a strange day, a sad day. Oh, some rays of hope shone through, but overall my natural empathy for friends about to embark on the next stage of the lives dragged me down. Sad.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
