{"id":726,"date":"2006-03-24T15:32:45","date_gmt":"2006-03-24T20:32:45","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.allyngibson.net\/?p=726"},"modified":"2006-03-24T15:32:45","modified_gmt":"2006-03-24T20:32:45","slug":"on-a-conversation-about-enders-game","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.allyngibson.com\/?p=726","title":{"rendered":"On a Conversation About Ender&#039;s Game"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>One of my employees at work is reading Orson Scott Card&#8217;s novel <i>Ender&#8217;s Game<\/i>.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Who,&#8221; he asked me a few days ago, &#8220;do you think should play Ender in an <i>Ender&#8217;s Game<\/i> movie?&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>I thought about this a few moments, sighed, and said, &#8220;Of all the child actors I know, the only one I can think of that could play Ender convincingly would be Dakota Fanning.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;But, Ender&#8217;s a boy!&#8221; he said.<\/p>\n<p>I shrugged.  &#8220;Can you think of a boy actor working today that&#8217;s young enough to portray Ender?  Maybe Erik Per Sullivan would have been great a few years ago&#8211;Dewey is Ender-like at times&#8211;but he&#8217;s too old now.
