Today, we commemorate America’s Declaration of Independence from Britain over two centuries ago. Many of us, as Homer Simpson so proudly proclaimed, will spend today celebrating America by blowing up a small part of it.<\/p>\n

I’m reminded today of something I encountered last year<\/a>, people in lawn chairs along the interstate to view fireworks.<\/p>\n

I’m merely sixty percent American. I think the test’s biased. \ud83d\ude09<\/p>\n

Sensibly, this year the company decided to shutter stores at the reasonable hour of six. Business was quite strong. I think it’s the heat–Raleigh has been positively unseasonal of late, and that makes people want to do things they can do indoors such as playing video games.<\/p>\n

Percy has been doing well. He’s readjusted to his life at home, though he’s lost any interest in going outside.<\/p>\n

All in all, today’s been a nice day. Sparklers, fireworks in the neighborhood. And a book that had been dogging me has finally found its forward momentum. Call me content.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
