Star Trek<\/i> author Kevin Lauderdale has made a proposal: It’s time to commemorate Carl Sagan, author of COSMOS<\/i> and Contact<\/i> with a postage stamp<\/a>. I’ll let Kevin explain:<\/p>\n

December 20th will mark the 10th anniversary of the death of Carl Sagan. This makes him an eligible subject for a U.S. postage stamp.<\/p>\n

If, like me, you saw COSMOS at an impressionable age, perhaps he shaped your fascination with things scientific.<\/p>\n

Anyone interested in endorsing the stamp idea should write a polite letter detailing the reasons why Sagan is worthy of such an honor to the board below. Those of you with blogs might also consider publicizing this.<\/p>\n

At the same time, I cannot believe it’s been ten years since Sagan’s passing. In some ways it seems simultaneously both more recent and more distant–it feels like far more than a decade since I read Billions and Billions<\/i>, The Demon-Haunted World<\/i>, and Pale Blue Dot<\/i>, while at the same time the Jodie Foster film Contact<\/i> feels like it was released just the other year.<\/p>\n
