On Beer Musings

What was I thinking?

A few days ago, I stopped at the liquor store, needing beer. Obvious reasons; I was out.

I wasn’t pleased with the selection. Did they have Guinness? No. Well, they did, but it was in cans. I want bottles, dammit! Bottles!

So, Guinness was out.

Okay, what about Sam Adams?

They had a variety pack! A summer variety pack!

I love the Winter Variety Pack they do every year. So I bought it.

And then I realized.

I don’t like the Sam Adams summer brews.

They’re too lightweight. The Sam Adams Pale Ale isn’t terrible. And I was pleasantly surprised by the Hefeweizen. None of these are, technically, dark enough for me, but they were drinkable. And then the summer variety pack is filled with things like Sam Adams Light, which is plain awful. I haven’t tried the Blackberry yet. I’m almost afraid to. And the Summer Ales have been left aside.

What was I thinking?

It’ll be gone in a few days. Hopefully. And then I can buy something I’d rather drink.
