On Cool Die-Casts

A little later this year, Corgi is releasing a line of Beatles die-cast vehicles — buses and taxis.

There are vehicles based on Abbey Road, Sgt Pepper, Magical Mystery Tour, and my personal favorite, Revolver.

I love the attention to detail. The placard on the front of the bus lists four songs from the album — “Yellow Submarine,” “Eleanor Rigby,” “Taxman,” and “Good Day Sunshine.”

They’re going to be pricey to import from the UK in these days of the “hella weak” dollar. UK list price is £12.99, according to several online vendors, and then factor in currency conversion and shipping.

And then there’s this slightly more expensive version, complete with a special collector’s tin. Though it’s slightly disappointing; I thought the die-cast would have gone inside the tin, but if the picture is to scale, there’s no sodding way it fits.

Yeah. Not cheap.

Nevertheless, how can a Beatles fan look at that Corgi die-cast and not want that? 🙂
