I’m so glad I don’t have to deal with this anymore — Halo 3 has reached over a million pre-orders in North America.
Which means, knowing the video game industry and who actually does pre-orders, that it’s entirely EB Games and GameStop.
Which means, knowing GameStop, that a solid third of the pre-orders are bogus. That, unfortunately, is their modus operandi.
And it’s not like copies of Halo 3 are going to be difficult to find at retail. Pre-ordering the game — unless you desperately want the super-spiffy edition — isn’t going to be a necessity.
Will Halo 3 be huge? No doubt, no doubt. I can’t wait to see the marketing synergy Microsoft has for the title. But the need to pre-order? It’s not there for me, and I don’t like being a lemming anyway. 😉
