On Hank Steinbrenner’s Rantings

Dear Hank Steinbrenner,

You’ve ranted recently, sir, about how the National League needs to “join the modern age.

I realize you’re angry. You lost one of your starting pitchers to a base-running injury. You’re seeing your post-season hopes go down the drain. “The pitcher has enough work to do,” you said. Translation: pitchers shouldn’t be running the bases.

I really only have one thing to say.

Fuck you, sir.

Injuries running the bases happen in baseball. It’s a fact of life. By your argument — that pitchers already have enough to do — the pitcher’s only good to stand on the mound and throw. Would you not want pitchers to field their position? Would you not want pitchers to cover first base?

Injuries happen.

If you don’t want to play by National League rules, then don’t play National League games. Lobby to end interleague play. But to convince another league to give up their distinctive character because your season is going down the drain?

You’re fucking whiney, you asshole wanker.
