Some people are public. Some people are private. I'm a private person. I couldn't imagine myself as a star of a reality television series; besides the feeling that my life really isn't that interesting (sorry, not all writers lead Hemingway-esque lives, though I would settle for a Fitzgerald-ian life), even blogging skirts the level of self-sharing that I'm comfortable with.
If I were, hypothetically speaking, to have a reality show, I know would its title would be. I have it written down.
Dispatches From the Annals of Awesome
I have a fantastically awesome job — and no, I'm not going to say what it is, though it is something of an open secret. I work in a neat place where witty things are said, cool things are discussed, and nerdity rules the day.
Yes, it can be mundane — I wrote 6,500 words today and my brain melted a little from every single one — and yes, it can be silly, and yes, it can absolutely be overworked, but let's be honest. Every job is like that. Mine is no different in that regard. But that doesn't make it any less a chapter in the "Annals of Awesome." It's something that, oh, G4 would love to chronicle. Guaranteed. 🙂
And no, I'm not entirely sure where "Dispatches from the Annals of Awesome" came from. It's scribbled on a sheet of notebook paper on the clipboard I carry in my bag each day, along with some Depeche Mode lyrics (specifically from "Enjoy the Silence"), so I figure about six weeks back I wrote that out, probably because it was a sudden brainwave and I knew that someday, somehow, I would use that as a title.
And now I have.
Dispatches from the Annals of Awesome.
