On Showing My Cubs Spirit

I used to wear a necktie to work every day.

I liked wearing neckties, actually. I taught myself to tie the knot, and somehow, without ever figuring out how, I discovered the Windsor knot, which is probably the most perfect necktie knot there is — it’s symmetrical and it’s balanced and it’s meaty and big.

In my current office environment, I don’t have to wear neckties. The corporate culture is collared shirts. Not necessarily polo shirts; I like rugby shirts, myself.

Today, however, today I’m wearing a necktie.

A Chicago Cubs necktie. :cubs:

I’m showing my team spirit, you see. A Cubs necktie — well, it’s about all the Cubs gear I’ve got. 🙂

My coworkers wondered if I planned on wearing my Cubs necktie every day. Or if I had a rally cap. Or even if I planned on growing a “playoff beard.”

No. No. Abso-fucking-lutely not.

This evening the Cubs take on the Dodgers in the Friendly Confines. It’s going to be awesome. 🙂

Go, Cubs, go!

  1. Ugh. I’m very glad that even collars aren’t required in my corporate culture—-shirts are just fine. Hurray for cube farms where there’s no chance in hell of clients ever showing up!
