On Vincent Price, Gourmet

Random linkage for the day.

An article on Vincent Price’s 1960’s cookbook, A Treasury of Great Recipes.

Yes, that Vincent Price. The actor that was born to star in horror films of the 1950’s and 1960’s. The voice of Mystery! The creator of Edward Scissorhands.

It’s such an amazingly… bizarre concept.

Vincent Price.

  1. I wrote the entry on Price for “The Scribner Encyclopedia of American Lives.” He was an amazingly versatile fellow. Along with being a gourmet, he was an art connoisseur, and his books on both topics were best-sellers. He was on “The $64,000 Question,” where his topic was art. That’s why his Batman super-villain persona is “Egghead.” In the 1960s he was as well-known for his sophistication and intelligence as for the horror films.
