I’m trying to figure out when I became such a letter writer.
I’ve sent letters to my Senators. I’ve sent a letter to my Representative. I’ve also written to my state representatives–on a measure allowing higher alcohol content beers to be sold in North Carolina and about a measure to raise the sales tax on DirecTV subscribers.
And now I’m writing a letter to the local newspaper.
Yesterday two letters were published about Boondocks, the comic strip by Aaron McGruder. The two writers were writing about the strip published last Friday in which the characters referred to the Natalee Holloway disappearance. One writer found the strip “obscene garbage,” another called McGruder a “heartless jerk.” Why? Because Huey and Riley couldn’t tell the difference between news and reality programming on television, and as a consequence lost interest in the story.
Clearly the satire of Friday’s Boondocks was too subtle for these letter writers.
Now I need to set the record straight. It’s what I do. 🙂
