America needs you, Al Leiter. The FOX broadcasting team of Joe Buck and Tim McCarver just isn’t the same without you there.
Former Cubs third basemen Mark Bellhorn and Bill Mueller are doing well for themselves.
Why does FOX keep using the music from Requiem for a Dream to promote their football, NASCAR, and baseball broadcasts? Is there some hidden meaning on the nature of addiction in the choice of music?
Any respect I’ve had for Jimmy Fallon I’ve just lost. Fever Pitch, Nick Hornby’s memoir of his love of Arsenal, is being turned into a film about the Red Sox, starring Fallon and Drew Barrymore. Well, fuck that. I wasn’t happy with the transplantation of High Fidelity to Chicago for the John Cusack film, but at least the film kept the character of Rob pretty much the same–he owned a record store staffed by idiots. Baseball isn’t soccer. The Red Sox aren’t Arsenal. Gah.
Last year FOX showed umpteen million promos for Skin, their drama about the porn industry, and those were some of the most annoying promos I’ve ever seen. This year there haven’t been any truly annoying promos, though if I see Richard Branson one more time promoting The Rebel Billionaire I think I might scream. The promos for House, FOX’s new medical drama, look interesting, but I wonder why is Hugh Laurie slumming on American television?
