On Andy Serkis and Tintin

Andy Serkis will be reteaming with Lord of the Rings director Peter Jackson for the upcoming Tintin trilogy to be directed by Jackson, Steven Spielberg, and a director to be named later.

I am not, honestly, familiar with Tintin. I do know, though, that these are some of the best-selling comic books worldwide.

Steven Moffat, writer of Doctor Who episodes like “The Girl in the Fireplace,” “Blink,” and “Time-Crash,” will be penning the screenplays for the Tintin trilogy.

It will be a motion-capture animation, much like Beowulf or The Polar Express. Andy Serkis, of course, is well familiar with motion-capture, his performance in The Lord of the Rings having been done through motion-capture.

As I said, I don’t know Tintin, but with the creators lined up on this project I’m going to have to see it. 🙂
