From now until the end of the month, editor Robert Smartwood is taking submissions for an anthology of “Hint Fiction.”
What is Hint Fiction? From the submission guidelines:
Its a story of 25 words or less that suggests a larger, more complex story. The thesis of the anthology is to prove that a story 25 words or less can have as much impact as a story 2,500 words or longer. The anthology will include between 100 and 150 stories. We want your best work.
Its possible to write a complete story in 25 words or less a beginning, middle, end but thats not Hint Fiction.
For Pocket Books’ Strange New Worlds contest several years ago, I submitted only drabbles. Stories of exactly 100 words.
The website provides some examples of Hint Fiction.
The contest is open until the end of August. Winning stories get a flat twenty-five dollars. And writers can submit up to two stories — unless, like me, they blog about it, in which case they can submit three. 😉
Naturally, I love a good challenge.
Start scribbling.

Thank you for the head’s up. I will be submitting here. And probably blogging about it. 😉
